Chicago Black Restaurant Week is back for its milestone 10th year. The event kicked off Sunday, February 9, and runs through Sunday, February 23.
Lauran Smith, a native Memphian and longtime Chicago resident, founded Chicago Black Restaurant Week in 2015. The first celebration took place in February 2016 as a tribute to Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who launched Negro History Week on February 7, 1926, to highlight the contributions of African Americans. Today, Smith continues that legacy by using Chicago Black Restaurant Week to spotlight and support Black-owned restaurants across the city.
We’ve compiled a list of participating restaurants on Chicago’s South Side. Visit the Chicago Black Restaurant Week website to get a full list of this year’s featured restaurants offering special discounts on an array of dishes and treats.
