Annie Kamps took home the title of Miss Gold Coast 2023 at the Miss Chicago pageant on Saturday, January 7, 2023. She was also the recipient of the Influencer Award. Annie was crowned by last year’s winner, Sheridan Hurtig, at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago, Illinois.
“It feels amazing,” Annie told Chicago Southsider during a live interview after the pageant. “I’ve been watching the Miss Chicago team compete for years. With this being my last year of eligibility for Miss America, I’m excited to go to Miss Illinois with the best team.”
Annie graduated from Illinois State University. She started competing in pageants to earn scholarships, but stayed for the life skills that pageantry helps contestants develop. She currently works at the YMCA of Metro Chicago, according to her Facebook profile.
Annie will promote her social impact initiative, Serving Adversity Through Civic Engagement, during her reign. In June, she will represent the Gold Coast at the Miss Illinois pageant that will take place at the Marion Civic Center.
