Chicago Montessori educator advances to Top 15 in “America’s Favorite Teacher” contest

Help Chicago’s very own Jasmine Williams advance to the Top 10 in this year's “America’s Favorite Teacher” contest.

CHICAGO, April 13, 2024 – Jasmine Williams, a dedicated Montessori educator from Chicago, has successfully advanced to the Top 15 in the country’s “America’s Favorite Teacher” contest, organized by Reader’s Digest. Williams has distinguished herself among a group of 111 peers, demonstrating her passion and commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders.

“I am deeply grateful for the incredible support I’ve received throughout this competition, and I feel blessed to have made it to the Top 15 out of 111 dedicated teachers in my group,” expressed Williams. “Advancing even this far was beyond my wildest dreams, considering the thousands of talented educators who entered. Winning the grand prize would not only be a dream come true but would also enable me to make a greater impact in education. It’s been a truly wonderful privilege, and I cannot thank everyone enough for their encouragement and votes!”

How to Vote for America’s Favorite Teacher

You can vote for America’s Favorite Teacher by doing the following:

  1. Go to Jasmine Williams’ America’s Favorite Teacher page here. The link is also available here: https://americasfavteacher.org/2024/jasmine-williams
  2. Click on the red “Vote” button when the page appears.
  3. Select “1 Vote” to claim your free vote. You will have to verify your vote by logging into Facebook or including your credit card. Your credit card will not be charged for free votes.
  4. After you place your free vote, you can place another free vote 24 hours later. Voting ends in June 2024.
  5. Share the America’s Favorite Teacher voting page with a friend to help Jasmine Williams advance to the Top 10.

The public has a pivotal role in this competition, as their votes help determine which teachers advance through various stages. Supporters can cast a free vote for Williams every 24 hours at Americasfavteacher.org to help her continue her journey in the contest and also support Teach for America. Voting for the TOP 10 concludes on Thursday, April 18th, at 9 PM CST.

Competition Details:

  • Top 20 Voting: March 25 – April 4
  • Top 15 Voting: April 4 – April 11
  • Top 10 Voting: April 11 – April 18
  • Further Stages: Top 5, Group Finals, Wildcard Round, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals

The winner of the “America’s Favorite Teacher” will enjoy a feature in Reader’s Digest, a trip to Hawaii, and a $25,000 cash prize, with the grand prize winner announced on June 7, 2024.

When asked about what she cherishes most about being an educator, Williams shared, “Watching my students grow every day is profoundly rewarding. The joy they express upon mastering something challenging is priceless. My students teach me life lessons daily—perseverance, regardless of the difficulty, is perhaps the most significant.”
