Welcome to the Southside Untold Artwork Contest
Contest Overview
Chicago Southsider and Tangerine Art Gallery are proud to join forces to shine a spotlight on local talent and provide a platform for artists to gain recognition. We’re thrilled to discover new voices and select the official cover art for Season 2 of the South Side Untold Podcast, where community, storytelling, and creativity come together. If you have an eye for design and a passion for sharing untold stories, we want to see your work—this is your chance to help shape the conversation and showcase your art to a growing audience. See below for contest details.
Contestants
Local artists from Chicago and surround areas.
Theme & Requirements
- Theme: South Side Untold: Season 2. Showcase community, South Side History, and fresh perspectives.
- Format: 500 × 500 pixels at 300 dpi (ideal for digital podcast covers).
- Color/Style: Open to all styles.
- Rights & Usage: The winning design will be used as the official Season 2 cover art on all podcast platforms and promotional materials. The winner will have to sign an artwork release form.
Registration Process
All contestants must first register for the contest. Use the form below to register for the contest.
After registering go to Chicago Southsider Substack and subscribe, the final judging will take place in the newsletter.
Submission Process
All artists must submit their artwork by February 12th, 2025.
- Online Submission: Artists have to email a digital file of their artwork to hello@chicagosouthsider.com. Use the subject email line “South Side Untold Artwork Contest Submission” when sending in your submission.
Judging & Selection
The judging process will take place in 3 phases:
First Phase: Initial Review (Gallery + Podcast Team): Narrow entries to a shortlist of, say, 5-10 top artworks.
Second Phase: After we narrow down the artwork selections we will ask our newsletter audience of over 30,000 subscribers to choose the winner.
Third Phase: We will announce over a Live video chat from the Tangerine Gallery. All contestants have to be on the live video call.
Prizes
The final winner artwork will be the official episode artwork for Season 2 of the South Side Untold Podcast which debuts on Spotify and the Chicago Southsider YouTube Channel. Also, the winner will receive a dedicated post on the Chicago Southsider website showcasing who they are, and portfolio, honorable mentions on all social media platforms. a piece of artwork hanging in..select art gallery, And a ad placed in the Chicago Southsider Newsletter.
Rules & Eligibility
To ensure a fair and exciting competition, please review the following rules and eligibility requirements before submitting your artwork.
Eligibility
- Open to artists 18 years or older.
- Artists must reside in the Chicagoland area.
- Submissions must be original works created by the artist. No previously published artwork will be accepted. AI-generated artwork is allowed.
- Artists must agree to the official usage rights outlined in the contest guidelines above.
Submission Rules
- Artwork must align with the South Side Untold Podcast: Season 2 theme, representing community, untold stories, and fresh perspectives.
- Digital submissions only: Files must be 500 × 500 pixels at 300 dpi to be considered for use as the podcast cover art.
- The deadline for submissions is [Insert Deadline]—late entries will not be accepted.
- Each artist may submit one entry.
- Submissions must be emailed with the subject line “South Side Untold Artwork Contest Submission” and include a completed entry form.
- By entering, artists grant Chicago Southsider and Tangerine Art Gallery the right to display, promote, and use their submitted artwork in connection with the contest and podcast promotion.
Failure to comply with any of the rules may result in disqualification. We appreciate your creativity and can’t wait to see your submissions!
