Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios Makes History As Miss Universe 2023  

Sheynnis Palacios is the first woman from her country to capture the Miss Universe crown.

Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios was crowned Miss Universe on November 18 in El Salvador. She is the first person from her country to win the Miss Universe crown.

Ms. Palacios, 23 years old, competed against 84 delegates from around the world at the 72nd Miss Universe pageant. Currently, she is a model and brand ambassador known for her social work, poise, and intelligence. She’s held several pageant titles, including Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016 and Miss World Nicaragua 2020.

Saturday night was the last day of the Miss Universe 2023 competition, with the judges narrowing the finalists down to 20.

After the top contenders strutted down the runway in their Rubin Singer swimwear, the finalists were cut in half to showcase their evening gown attire.

Immediately after, the Top 5 were selected and asked questions from the esteemed panel of judges.

In the final question and answer segment of the competition, the Top 3 contenders were asked if you could live one year in another woman’s shoes, who would you choose and why? The crowd cheered as Nicaragua shared her response in Spanish.

And the Winner of Miss Universe 2023 is …

  • Winner: Nicaragua: Sheynnis Palacios
  • First Runner-Up: Thailand: Anntonia Porsild
  • Second Runner-Up: Australia: Moraya Wilson

Palacios bested 1st runner-up Anntonia Porsild from Thailand and 2nd runner-up Moraya Wilson from Australia in the contest.

At the end of the competition, Palacios was draped in the winner’s sash and crowned with a tiara onstage in El Salvador.
